This is the first book in a series of three including SHRIMP, and CUPCAKE. When I received Cupcake I did not realize it was initially the third book in the series, and a teen novel. I decided to read the series anyway, and started with this novel. I found it to be a page turner, and a light read. There is some content that does not make it suitable for a younger teen though.

Pretty good book. It really sucked me in, I stayed up till 1 a.m. just so I could finish it. The only thing that really bugged me is how the author treated sex, like there was nothing special about it and you could do it with whoever you wanted. To be honest, every now and then I felt the main character was a little slutty, and that definitely irritated me (I'm a Christian). Overall, though, a rather good book. Only give it to a younger teen if you're prepared to talk to them about it, not a book for young teens to read alone.

I happen to love adolescent and children's literature. this is definitely for the older teen, though due to content!

I loved this book! If you liked the Weetzie Bat series, you will love this. I rec' it for any teen who is sick of the mushy YA series where everything ends up all rosy and perfect. A great read for a mature girl.

Quick enjoyable read. I did something with this book I've never done before. Finished it, and a couple days later, read it again. I enjoyed it even more.

I read this book a few years back, but I just loved it! I felt like I knew the characters in the book and the story was very great and well written! Wonderful book to read!

Gingerbread was a perfect book for me in high school- misfit, rebellious and in need of literature about others like me. Cyd and her dramas were perfect: not a cheerleader wondering who she would go to homecoming with, but a girl who was like me; fighting with her parents, getting grounded, dressing the way she wanted.

Gingerbread is an amazing book! I have read it twice actually. It is great for teenagers and young adults. It covers alot of issues that people are going through everyday. Such as parents, trying to be individual, and relationships!

great read.
