I used to hide behind a mask, so afraid of all the lies.
I wanted to hide away, from all the peering eyes.
I used to think that I was weird, that I was the only one.
I used to feel so alone, like I was on the end of a loaded gun.

I always felt that life was hard, that I should just give up.
I used to look upon the world and say that I had enough.
I always used to be afraid that life was such a task.
Now I stand here before you, the girl behind the mask.

I used to feel that I was wrong about anything I did.
I felt that life was like an auction and went to the highest bid.
I used to feel that dreams, never did come true.
That I was always wrong, I wanted to say I'm through.

I always felt that life was hard, that I should just give up.
I used to look upon the world and say that I had enough.
I always used to be afraid that life was such a task.
Now I stand here before you, the girl behind the mask.

Now that I lived some life and never did give up.
I feel so much better to know that I had it tough.
Now I know that I am worth it, that I shouldn't hide.
So take a look into my world and see what is inside.

Happiness is not just a feeling, life isn't just a game.
No one in the world can win or lose, it just ends the same.
We all find the path that we all need to take.
Just look inside yourself and you will find the way.

I used to hide behind a mask so afraid of all the lies.
I always wanted to hide away from all the peering eyes.
Now I stand here before you in front of all the eyes.
I am no longer afraid of all the ones who told lies.

Now I stand here today without the mask in view.
I realize now that my life is great, as long as I have you.

I like this. Check out the "touch of insanity" in my poem "Learn to Rejoice"
