I couldn't get into Dobie's writing style at all. Memoirs account for some of my favorite reading and this type of memoir is along the lines of what I like so i was expecting to really get into it. Instead I found myself not caring about anyone in the book. Not Dobie herself, not her family and not her friends. I didn't care about their problems or escapades.
The writing is way over detailed. I'm not sure why some author do this - to make themselves seem more intelligent? A certain number of words needed or desired? Talking about one thing where someone would normally use two sentences, this author used 6. Far too much useless detail. The key word being 'useless'.
All in all, it's boring. It's very, very slow to start. I honestly can't think of anything good to say about this.
