When Stanga turns up dead shortly after a fierce beating in front of numerous witnesses at the hands of Clete Purcel, the case takes a nasty turn, and solving the mystery of the Jefferson Davis deaths becomes more important than ever.

Two young girls are murdered and Dave and Clete are trying to find out who did it. Was it related to old family money, the new ex-con friend of the family or the rich wife of another town resident? The book is well written as most other books by Mr. Burke.
