My husband loves these authors:

Glenn Cook, Michael Morecock, Kage Baker   ... lots of doom and gloom in them!

We also like Mary Gentle, Dave Duncan, etc.

Looking for suggestions for what to read AFTER reading everything written by Glenn Cook about a hundred times!

Thanks!  -Claire

How about Perdido Street Station by China Mieville?  I can't say it's just like the authors you listed, but it's definitely dark and gloomy.

Have you tried posting your question in the science fiction forum here?  You might get more responses from people who don't look in the hidden gems forum.

Clive Barker? I remember Weaveworld especially being a really dark fantasy/scifi/horror crossover.

Oh and if you like Mary Gentle you would probably love Joan Vinge, especially the Snow Queen series.
