We're Going on A Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen is about a family looking for a bear. They travel a long way looking for one. The story repeats, so it becomes like a song for the child when he reads it out loud. Helen Oxenbury illustrates the story. It is a 1.3 AR book.
This is the cutest book! You can physically use this book to go on a bear hunt in your house. The little ones love it! It reads We're going on a bear hunt, We're going to catch a big one. We're not scared. When you find an obstacle it reads We can't go over it We can't go under it Oh no! We've got to go through it! The book itself becomes an adventure for the child and parent or grandparent to enjoy. When the bear is found of course the hunters run back through all the obstacles they had just come and hide under the covers of the bed. What a treasure. We can't keep it in stock in our bookstore. Great book.
This book was used in a children's program I worked in this summer. The kids were in grades k-3 and they loved it! They requested it all the time.I would recommend this book in to anyone with young kids.
Darling children's book I was given first in 2002. Don't know how I missed it before. I've given several copies as gifts, and my 2nd grader still loves to read this. Whenever something is missing, we're 'going on a _______ hunt', and someone always fills in 'We're going to catch a big one!'
Right up there with 'Goodnight Moon' as a must have.
