I am in Northern California. I sent out a book, with DC#, to a member in Hawaii. yet, as I check the status I see the book is in New Jersey.... ?????

Why would the Post Office send mail from CA to HI via New Jersey?????

Color me confused....

That's the post office for ya!  As if Hawaii didn't have enough mail issues.  Glad I also use DC, I sent a book that's apparently stuck in PA for over two weeks.  Wish somebody would wake up and send it on.

I have had three books stuck in Forest Park, IL and one in my hometown PO since January 24th. Meanwhile other books have gone thru the system and already been delivered.

I have 5 books stuck in my local PO according to the DC scans.  Clerk told me today it is because my DC labels are too small although they are the same size I have always used.  .

LaVonne, I had a book stuck in Warrendale PA for weeks.  Actually they lost it aobut Jan 16th.  You and I aren't the only ones, I've seen several posts about PA in that time frame.  The tracking just stopped at Warrendale, and was told I may wish to check with "lost items" in Georgia.  Then...totally out of the blue, the book arrived back to me last week.  Part of the original postage was still visible and my original shipping label was completely removed.  A new label had been attached - from a PBS member in Clinton, Arkansas?  She has a private profile, so I can't contact and see how she received a book mailed to Wooster, OH by way of PA.  I know the original address was good, have the USPS postage receipt with Wooster zip.  At this point, it's a mystery.  But I shipped the (well traveled) book back out and it was finally received yesterday!

Shai, May have been placed in an incorrect shipment to NJ, these things happen especially with media mail.   Hopefully you will see another DC scan soon.  Mail to HI can take awhile enroute, and sometimes waiting for local sorting & delivery.  Sis lives on Maui, and it's rather laid back about these things.  She's had Christmas presents stuck in a shipping container on the dock for weeks while USPS worked their way through it "when they had time".  It's tough to live in paradise!

I just finally got word that a recipient go the book I had sent him on 1/27. It had been marked into my hometown PO in WI on 1/27 (day I mailed it) and then nothing until he got it in MI yesterday.  He said the envelope was shredded. Thing is, it was never marked in anywhere but origination and destination locations, so who knows WHERE it went before it got to him - it's not like WI and MI are that far apart! LOL

I had one recently when I clicked the DC information it said "Mis-shipped - SACRAMENTO, CA" and then it was sent to West Sacramento, CA, but what's odd is that it was supposed to go to Sacramento, CA and it was then sent back to Sacramento where it was finally delivered.  Weird! :-P

I spoke to my local post mistress and she stated if they are small parcels sometimes they linger in the bottom of mail bags never completely emptied until in the future they are used again.  That explains the long dead time for some.  I think on the others that damaged mail goes to the postmaster to try to place a good address on, and they don't always get right on the dead letter and damaged parcels.  Well strange things happen.  Susan

I work for the Post Office.  I have seen a couple pieces of mail come through Indiana  that started in England  going to Australia.  I can never resist putting a little note on them for the addressee.

And we think the USPS takes the long way around!

And they wonder why these have no profit margin and have to keep raising $ of everything.
