I'm thinking about getting a gold key membership, Does it help you get WL books faster?    I don't really need it to add more books to my WL

because at this time I don't even have 200 on there .

What is everyones take on this.?

I haven't found that I get WL books any quicker.  Most of mine are coming from swap games, and folks adding to game books rather than gold key friends.

I do like the extra spaces.

I also like the idea that PBS is trying to increase revenue without charging everyone.  But then I traded credits for another year of gold key.  cheeky

I don't think so either.  I get some books that way but not even close to what I get through FIFO.  Is it worth it for the few I do get that way?  I don't know.  Fortunately I love the extra space WL and especially the directed delivery.  I do order books in the system and they get to me in just a day two or three in most cases.

For getting WL books it only matters that your Friends are Gold Key.  Gold Key members have the option to post to any of their friends whether the Friend is Gold Key or not.

Lisa if you ask me whether or not Gold Key helps wish list books come in faster depends on a couple things

1- how current your wish list is (are the books popular right now?)

2- your "presence" I have about 400 friends; frequent the forums and correspond semi-regularly with a handful of friends, and I usually receive a couple wish list offers via Gold key per month. Often more.

And If you go with gold key once you start posting your wl titles to your friends they will notice and likley return the favor when possible.

I joined Gold key to save postage fees. It's worth it just for that. Receiving WLs early was just an unexpected bonus.

I do it for the larger wishlust, and the ability to see which of my friends has what on their WL. I often have a series of books that I can post to the same person if I can just find one or two friends who want more than one. Saves on postage. The key to that is having friends who read the same books, though. I probably get 1 or 2 offers a month via gold key. Sometimes more, but not an avalanche or anything.

It hasn't helped me but most of my WL of stuff that rarely gets posted: craft books, nonfiction, out of print/hard to find fiction.  If you wish for a lot of popular titles and have a lot of friends, it might.

I occassionally get a book from one of my gold key friends. I also choose the gold key friends when I am posting a wishlisted book. But I like the free transaction each month for PBS Postage and the expanded wishlist. It just depends on what features are important to you.

I do get offered WL books from my gold key friends on a fairly regular basis. (Most of them are from friends I have from swap games, etc.) It's always a nice surprise! Whenever I post a WL book, I will definitely choose a friend to send it to if names come up. Most times, I take a look at their WL's as well before posting, as it's always nice if you have more than one and can save yourself postage by reading another book from their WL and sending them together. (If my swap game TBR book pile isn't too high- lol!) I can also do a mock posting with a certain title to see if a book I'm thinking of using for a swap game shows up on any of my friend's WLs that are in the game without having to go through all their WLs, since most of them are already on my friend list. That saves time (and keeps me from adding to my own WL by checking theirs!) :p

I do see that a lot of the books on your WL look like YA, NA, and erotica- which are some of the slower-moving items on my WL. I tend to have more success getting these titles from either joining themed swaps (like the YA VB), watching Amazon for Kindle sales on these titles (they tend to put YA and NA titles on sale quite often), or from my library (they're pretty awesome with getting in the newest YA and NA titles!)

I think that if you use the PBS postage with the DC (which I do quite often, especially for my swap games), the gold key mostly pays for itself with the once a month savings on the DC charge. And it's nice to have those extra WL slots- somehow they manage to get all filled up! I like it- I've had it since it started and I have no problem hitting renew when it comes up.

I did it for the extra WL slots.  I do get more WL offers and try to return the favor when I post WL books.  If I'm posting something, I'm more apt to choose a Gold Key friend if I see they have it on their WL when I go to post and I recognize the name.

I love having the extra WL spots and I definitely have a lot of WL books posted directly to me via my Gold Key friends. Like Sarah, when I post a WL book, as a Gold Key member I can see if any of my friends are wishing for it, I will definitely post it to a Gold Key friend because: a) to pass on the favor, and b) Gold Key members are much more likely to accept the book promptly and not let it time out. When I post a WL book to the general population, more times than not it will go through timing out with several unresponsive members before being accepted which I find extremely frustrating. I also like being able to support PBS with the once yearly fee. In my book, as an active member, it is definitely worth it, but it totally depends on your priorities as well as your level of activity at PBS.

I also trade a lot of WL books with people I no from games, when  I have a lot of similar books. That is how I've gotten a lot of WL

I was gold key the first year they offered it, but then dropped it. I did get a few WL books quicker from friends.  I don't need 200 WL slots either so decided not to pay to get 300.
