I liked the humor in her story but found the characters a little hard to believe.

2nd in series of Sedikhan from the Loveswept romance stories. Short/quick read. A female detective & prince fall in love. Book is from 1984, but copy is in very good condition, slight aging of pages.

Feisty and beautiful private detective Honey Winston has been duped by a client into invading Prince Rubinoff's hotel suite! The man she came to know as she looked behind the glittering facade was an artist filled with longing, whose need was expressed in exquisite paintings the world would never see. Honey gently taught him to trust her and tried to share the dream he saw.

Feisty and beautiful private detective Honey Winston had been duped by a client into invading Prince Rubinoff's hotel suite by concealing herself in a too-small room service cart. When cigar smoke flushed her from her hiding place, Honey rose to face the mocking prince the gossip columns called "Lusty Lance." But the man she came to know as she looked behind the glittering facade was an artist filled with longing, a man whose need was expressed in exquisite paintings the world would never see. Honey gently taught him to trust her and tried to share the dream he saw. Would the gift of her love allow Lance to escape his gilded prison for the haven of her heart? [close]

I read a couple of chapters and couldn't stand the characters. The plotline was really dumb. I didn't find anything funny at all which is odd because in the books Johansen doesn't try to be funny, I thought she was. Lance was such a pompous ass. He was really gross and creepy to me. I have no idea why Honey had to be a virgin. On top of that she wasn't the smartest or the most professional person in the world. Hard to believe she was in the police force and worked as a bodyguard before.

Overall horrible book.

I'm read other books by Iris Johansen and was surprised to find this was not along her normal lines of books.

It's a romance novel about a woman who is chosen to watch over a hunky playboy. They're characters are complex enough and there is enough tension between the two of them, to keep you turning the pages (or putting in a new cd). Angela Brazil does a good job with the voices to make them believable and I was a little sad and hopeful when the last word was spoken.

Overall, Iris did a good job with this novel and even though it is not something I would normally read, I would read one of her romantic novels again.
