I am not a huge chick-lit fan, and this book reminds me why. Rena, dumped by her boyfriend (who now has someone thinner. prettier, more athletic and just BETTER) is moping around and decides to get back at him. She steals his new girlfriend's dog. What possessed her to do this is beyond me: she has nowhere to put the dog and he is destructive. But, she has to have him, and then cannot find a way to give him back.
Enter sort-of quirky family. Former hippy now Orthodox sister. Nagging mother. Remarrying father. Fixing her up with a rumpled potential new boyfriend.
Of course, she ends up reconnecting with the ex-boyfriend and then, she has choices to make. Well, really, she doesn't. There was no drama at all here. The boyfriend is a jerk.
I could have passed on this one.
Rena never meant to steal her ex-boyfriend's dog. She was just casually driving by his new house, taking stock of his new life, when the dog invited himself into her car...Okay, so she stole the dog.
