I didn't really like this book, but I'm giving it three stars because the author did a brilliant job of creating and building suspense, the density of detail making a very complex plot and the unexpected twists and turns all too believable. And I thought the ending was pitch-perfect, allowing the reader to understand that the misery and psychological manipulation would endure for these unredeemed characters, no doubt with many more twists and turns. But the characters were so unlikable and the plot as a whole so unsavory that I wanted to take a shower after reading it!
I thought the book was well written and I disliked the main people but i loved it anyway, except for the end !!
Contemporary Fiction. Did he, or didn't he? After 5 years of a rocky marriage, Nick Dunne's Society wife disappears under suspicious circumstances. He becomes the main suspect, naturally. Even the reader doesn't know the exact truth, until well into the book.
Love it or hate it, this book will have you thinking about it for a long time. There are no heroes here. Neither main character is likeable.
For those of us who have a strong sense of justice, and want to see people pay for their actions, this book could seem like a let down. But, if you really think about it, maybe justice is really served.
The story is compelling, the plot is deep and twisted, and the writing is excellant, mesmerizing. I'm glad I read it.
