Burnard tells of the sad, surprising, joyous, important things tht happen to people who could be called normal to the extreme.

Follow the Chambers family and their experiences from 1949 - 1999.

Good, interesting book with likeable, believable characters.

A slow, gentle family saga, following the generations from post WWII through the 19990's. Ordinary lives, ordinary family triumphs and tragedies. The characters are quite lovingly created. Beautiful writing... but not that interesting! I was glad to finally finish it.

This novel is a beautiful chronicle of a family history, layered with many characters and stories....great material for book club discussions. Though at times a little tedious, it is very well written.
