On a good transaction do you make comments at the bottom in the comments for PBS to see?  Personally if a book arrives with a professional wrapping job, or perfect bubble mailer, I usually comment about that in the box at the bottom, and compliment the sender of course.  Recently none of my books have been wrapped in plastic so I have been noting that to PBS - something like "book arrived a good condition but no plastic was used".  Do you think that is over kill?

I don't. I believe that they only review the notes after there's been reason to look into a problem transaction.

ETA: I do sometimes send a thank you note to the sender themselves though.

I do! I figure if I've had a fantastic transaction that I should let TPTB know. That way, if someone later on makes a complaint and TPTB look at the account, they'll see my positive comments as well as any negatives.

Service/transactions that go beyond the minimum should be noted, IMO.

BTW, wrapping in plastic isn't a requirement of the site. If you want your books wrapped in plastic, you'll need to write a Requestor Condition for that. I would certainly note if someone didn't wrap in plastic if you had requested them to do so.

@Jane - thanks I know it's not required, and I don't have an RC for it.  But it is suggested by PBS so I figure it is worth a comment.  But I would never comment to the sender since I don't have a RC for plastic.

If a book is in great condition and was packaged nicely I always contact the sender and tell them they did a great job and I really appreciate the book.  I've also been known to flip the sender an extra credit, especially if the book is a like new hardcover that cost a bit extra to send.

I agree with Jane . I feel it important to note when an exceptional job of wrapping was done for  the book. Just in case they ever have a problem. And I like to send more than a thank you to the senders as well.

Like you Margaret, I often use the comment box.  If I have the time, I figure it gives TPTB a good overall picture of other members.  Should they ever need to review this member, IMO it's nice to have the bigger picture. . .might a RWAP or two, but also several good comments regarding packaging and prompt mailing.  I frequently mention plastic underwrap (or not) b/c I'd like PBS Admin to make it a requirement.  Maybe if members mention it frequently enough . . .

ETA - I don't currently have an RC for plastic, so if they arrive with underwrap I've been pm'ing the member  "...and plastic underwrap is always appreciated!"

I usually pm the sender and thank them for wrapping well and note that in the pbs box as well.

I always note the book and packaging condition in the Notes to PBS section, so there is a note of it in the transaction record.  Especially if it was a good job!

I don't...I figure this is not something the PBS powers that be read or have time to read...if anything, the sender is the one to thank for going above and beyond because they most likely WILL read it. But honestly, I don't even do that most of the time unless it's a really creative packing job or something, or it's a book I've waited a long time for, or if it's from one of my PBS buddies.

I thank the sender and nearly always write a comment in the box when receiving a book.  I want PBS to know about my wonderful swaps - receiving like-new books (no RC about that), great wrapping jobs, receiving the book very quickly, etc.  Plus as another poster commented, if another recipient ever has a problem with that sender, then PBS can get a better view of the whole picture.  It is human nature to comment on the negative, so I like the positive comments to be seen as well.

Thanks all.  It looks like most of you (that answered) feel like I do, to quote Valeria R.:

1) "if another recipient ever has a problem with that sender, then PBS can get a better view of the whole picture"

2) "It is human nature to comment on the negative, so I like the positive comments to be seen as well"

When I've received a "deal" from someone, I always thank them for offering the deal.
