I'm looking for good vampire books. I'm on this kick right now with vampire novels after reading the twilight series which was amazing. So if anyone has any good titles please share them with me.

Well the Twilight series is not horror, not by any stretch of the imagination.  So if you're looking for Twilight-esque vamps you might want to look elsewhere.  But if you want to try some other types of vampires, I'd suggest Vamped by David Sosnowski or Blood Sucking Fiends by Christopher Moore for something funny and Salem's Lot by Stephen King for something creepy.

For a paranormal series with some romance, some humor and some adventure, like Twilight but, IMO, way better, check out Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, its the first of the terrific Southern Vampire series.

Charlaine Harris is great.  I also liked Stephen Dedman's two vamp books, The Art of Arrow Cutting, and the sequel, Shadow's Bite.  If you are looking for vamps with more romance and less horror, like Twilight, then check out the paranormal forum.  They cover lots of vamps, from silly to sexy.

Anne Rice's first three Lestat books, Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned were great.

And Sunshine by Robin McKinley wasn't quite like anything else.

Laurell K. Hamilton's (of course I recommend her) Anita Blake series is amazing, and of course, the entire Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.

Sunglasses After Dark by Nancy A Collins.  She has written several others, but IMHO her best is Sunglasses.

A Dozen Black Roses by that same author is good, too

Dozen Black Roses links the Sonja Blue stories to the Masquerade series.  Good.  But Sunglasses was great.  Vamps, S&M, serious social issues, and a moral all in one book.  Oh my.

Nancy now has a YA vamp series out.  On my TBR.

I second (or third) Sunshine by Robin McKinley. Its beautifully written and it's a keeper on my shelf.

Another series that I didn't see mentioned yet but I highly recommend is by Christopher Golden. (Of Saints and Shadows, Angels Souls and Devil Hearts, Of Masques and Martyrs). They are a little bit harder to find, on wishlists here, but well worth it. He also writes a bunch of Buffy novels, which I haven't read, but these 3 are great!

The Traveling Vampire Show by Richard Laymon. Kind of like Stephen King's Stand by Me but with a Vampire Show at the end.

Salem's Lot is the best vampire book I've read.

The Vampire Diaries series by LJ Smith was around about 15 years ago and is in a similar vein as the Twilight Series. From what I remember of it, it was much better then Twilight. I remember loving it.

I am a huge fan of the Necroscope series by Brian Lumley. A vampire series that should be read by any fan of the genre

It's not a series, but I loved The Historian! And I don't read much vampire books.

I also recommend Charlaine Harris, Laurell K. Hamilton, and Richard Laymon's "The Traveling Vampire Show." I also agree with Tony that it is similar to King's "Stand by Me."

In addition, for a more YA feel, but much better than "Twilight", try Richelle Mead's "Vampire Academy."

For more romance, I suggest Jenna Black's "Guardians" series, beginning with "Watchers in the Night."

For a mix of supernatural beings, try Patricia Briggs and Kim Harrison.

Can whole heartedly agree about Anita Blake and vampires/weres/zombies up to a point...which would be until book 12, Incubus Dreams. At that point sex became far more important then plot. Very disappointed in every book after that.  Kept buying (on the day they were released at full price) hoping and praying that LKH would remember how to write a plot and not just lukewarm sex, as often as possable with as many men as possible, often all at once. The last book Blood Noir was thrown across the room so many times that I broke the spine.  Going to wait on the new book Skin Trade until I come up on the wish list.  Not paying $20. again for major disappointment!

However cannot recommed enough books 1 thru 11! Outstanding series!!!!!

For a YA series, I have to recommend the House of Night series by PC Cast and Kristin Cast! I LOVED them! They were kind of a Harry Potter take on vampires. It was interesting! The 6th book is to be released in Oct/Nov 09 and I CAN"T wait!

For a more "Twilight" feel you could also try "Vampire Kisses"
