I went over and signed up at Goodreads to participate in a Challenge, but while I'm adding the 2011 books I've read, the Reading Challenge I signed on with isn't picking up all the books I've added to my shelf. It's 4 books behind.

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Any suggestions? or step-by-step to add books to a challenge?

Gail, for your books to be picked up, they have to have a date that you read them. You edit each one and go down to the bottom and set the read date.

I was just going to say the same think as Keri. If you don't give them at least a month and year then it doesn't put them in that count.  I've forgotten to do that a few times and had to go back and see which ones I missed.

BINGO, my reading buds. The very first book in my books-listed had no date. My PBS peers are awesome.

OK, great. I'm 4 books short books listed (71) vs books on challenge (67) so I must have not put a date in. I'll go back and fix it.

Thanks, Keri and Mary!

It also often takes the challenge "ticker" on your home page quite a while to catch up. Click on it and see if it shows a more accurate number.

Urgh. Mine is showing 8 short. I don't feel like going back to see which ones I forgot to date.  I'll do that when I'm bored at work.

But I'm 16 books ahead of schedule so that's good.

I just upped my number because I passed my original goal. I'm 23 books ahead of schedule, but I've slowed down on my reading drastically in the last couple of months so I think my new goal is gonna be a challenge to get to.

I orginally had mine set at 365 because I came close to that number last year. But not too long after I set the goal, I had a job change at work and I had 0 chance to read or barely breathe. I also had other personal junk going on that just mangled my reading time even more. So I figured I had enough challenges in my life without setting myself up to fail on this one, so I lowered it. I am ahead right now and may raise it again. 250 is my current goal..

I originally set mine at 100 because I went back to work full time. But I can read a bit at work so I hit that early.  Then I upped it to 200. I used to read 300 or so a year but I don't have time for that anymore.

Adding the date-read that I had forgotten has me caught up now.

I set my challenge at 150 but I'm only up to May's books so far and I'm roughly 50% to goal. My reading has slumped this month, however I have 4 books started so even if I end up finishing them in October they will spike my numbers in the long run. Doesn't matter when I read them as long as it's in 2011.

Willa: yes, I did notice it can take a while to catch up, but I'll add 5-10 books then come back here to PBS and when I go back to GR it'll be caught up. I tend to jump around the internet a lot. indecision
