I am slowly becoming more interested in GR, but I am having just a bit of trouble in figuring some things out...

Today's questions...

What is a "top friend"? If I change someone from being a top friend, what does that do? I know the person won't know that I have removed them from being a top friend, but I don't see what the differences are between the 2 things.

Is there any way to import my TBR list from PBS to Goodreads?

Help, please...Thanks!!

Hi Valli, I believe top friend is if you want *certain people* at the top of your feeds so you always see their activity first. I believe there are ways to import but I'll have to do some research and get back to you in a bit.

ETA: http://www.goodreads.com/review/import

See if that helps. Once you start shelving your books you do have the option to make some *exclusive*, as Read, To Read, Currently Reading are. I've added things like Abandoned and DNF to my exclusive shelves so I don't count a tossed book as as read.

There is another advantage.  You can find out easily what books your friends own and order from them, just have to figure out which ones they have posted for swapping.  However, gr does have some quircks.  If you have a problem it takes days before something is solved and sometimes it never is.  I have had books I removed from the swap reappear and had to decline the request.  It happened three times with the same book.  And, I just discovered another fluke.  A requestor and I were trying to work out the mailing because the ISBN number I ented for an HB came up as PB.   I didn't notice that until I was at the point of printing the label and couldn't go back.  When I contacted gr they said it would be a few days but it still hasn't happened so I cancelled the request entered the book as an HB.  The requestor has been unable  to request the book again.  She said that this has happened to her in the past and she was never able to get the book.  Wierd.

Post books and their condition.  Requester pays the postage.  For every ten books you send you receive a free book credit.

I have not used their swap option yet.
