How many of you use Goodreads to keep up with your books?  I have started using it and if you are on there I would love to be your friend.

To find me I think you use my email address which is     kayelipscomb@yahoo.com

I use it some although I don't find the reviews as helpful as PBS or amazon.

I've just started going on GoodReads. . . I use Shelfari as my primary book recording site (mainly because I discovered it first!) And while I love the fact that you can create all the shelves you want on GoodReads, it's just not as pretty as Shelfari. . .

As to reviews. . . haven't checked out the reviews of GoodReads yet; I usually check reviews here, on Shelfari, on Amazon (though only if I don't mind having the book spoiled, because people almost ALWAYS spoil books on Amazon) and then just a blanket google search to see if I missed anything. :)

If anybody wants to friend me (anywhere) I'm always PhoenixFalls.

http://www.goodreads.com  is where you can keep track of your books, create a bunch of different shelves to help you do that, interact in groups to meet other readers and authors and write reviews. You can do some or all of those. I like it because it also links with Facebook seamlessly. I'm Spuddie there if anyone wants to send a friend request, or book_lumbricus@yahoo.com is my email.

Im on Goodreads and Shelfari both.  I use PBS to list all of my books that I want to exchange, but I like reading the different groups on

Goodreads and Shelfari.  :)  I check the Mystery and Romance Discussion groups here on PBS quite often also.

Got your friend request Carol.

I am so bad at reviews so I don't do that many.  I never know what to say even if it's a book that I just finished. I do post some on the message boards there.  They aren't quite as active as the PBS boards.  I keep up with my bookshelves. I like that you can create different bookshelves there.  I have a cozy, urban fantasy, erotica, Scottish, Western and various other shelves.  Most of my books aren't seperated into shelves yet.  I try to do it when I add them. But I had like 800 TBR books when I signed up that got loaded from PBS. I also have a slow, slow, very slow computer.  When my new computer comes I'll probably get my Goodreads shelves better organized.  I only sepearate my TBR shelves. Once I read a book it just goes onto the Read shelf.

I've also found a lot of new to me author's there.  I haven't tried them all yet becasue if my ginormous TBR but I've made "friends" with some of them and have a bunch that I'm following or  "fan" of to remind me that I want to try them.

I sent friend requests to a couple of you following the links posted here...I am wondering if there's something wrong with their search feature as I could not find any of you using your e-mail addresses, usernames or anything. Weird.

When I write a review, I just write it to my book journal--a folder with a separate Word document for each month--and copy and paste the same one everywhere...so if you read a review of mine here at PBS, it will be the same one I've posted to Goodreads, Amazon and my book blog. They are certainly nothing spectacular, just a brief synopsis and my opinion. I actually don't read many reviews here or anywhere, mostly they are not that helpful to me for a whole variety of reasons.

Cheryl, that's exactly what I do with my book reviews too! I post 'em in LiveJournal, here, Shelfari, GoodReads, and Bn.com. . . the only one that gives me trouble is the Barnes and Noble website, because they have a text limit that I sometimes exceed. . . But I'm a compulsive review-reader. . . if I'm trying to decide if I should order a book by an author I don't know I read as many reviews as possible to try and develop a picture of whether the book is up my alley. . . and if I'm reading a book by an author I do know I read the reviews afterward to see how much I agree with them!

I don't read reviews usually.  I've had the plots of too many books spoiled.  Also I've read books I loved that had horrible reviews and vice versa.
