I enjoyed this second book of the Civil War trilogy. There are some good character studies, and some thought-provoking scenarios, as the war builds toward its conclusion.

I enjoyed the book, although I wish I had known it was the middle book of the series.

Excellent account of time frame and intricacy of battle planning and mind set of major players in the Civil War. Even though I'm not a Civil War reader, I found this very interesting and learned quite alot about the strategy of wartime planning.

A good civil war read/listen. One word of caution on "what if" historical novels; unless you are very knowledgeable on the actual history, you will miss the intellectual exercise that this book exemplifies.
