Excellent as a reference for a student of mythology, religion, and Greek history, but not for casual readers who want a good story. The re-tellings of the myths are as brief and colorless as possible (though there are a great many) -- the real purpose behind the books is for the author to explain his theory of Greek myths, that they may all be interpreted as pseudo-historical stories chronicling the decline of the Goddess cult in Greece as it was replaced by patriarchal religions.
