Title tells exactly what this book is about - Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer, was found guilty of at least 38 deaths of women during the 1980's. This is the story of his victims and the monster who took their lives

Ann Rule's tone throughout this book is matter-of-fact, but even her steady narration of police procedure can't eliminate the horror of the material. At the same time, it's obvious that she feels deeply about these murdered women, and spends a great deal of time describing each individual. What surprises me, though, is how disjointed this account is, given Rule's accomplishments as a true crime writer. Random facts and stray bits of information intrude constantly and interrupt the story, as if she couldn't find a better way to present them. Tighter editing would have contributed a lot to the impact of the story.

Ann Rule is up to her usual high standards in this account of the Green River Killer's reign of terror in the Seattle area, the story of his victims and the two decade search for the bodies and the killer.

It was not one of her best but if someone is interested specifically in the Green River Killer then it is worth the read. Rather complicated with lots of names and dates but she does give the whole story.
