I had a book offered from my WL on FIFO July 22!!!  The member still hasn't acknowledged it..............why even list books you know are on someones WL and then ignore it for days??  Most people put books on their WL that they actually want to read.  This really gripes my a-s!

I just wanted to vent a little.....................thanks.

Lord of the Night by Robin Popp.  I have been waiting for this book forever.  It's the last of a series.

I know what you mean. Had a couple posted to me then got canceled because they never checked back and mailed it. OR they posted them then canceled without explination. Guess they wanted to send to someone else. Luckly the last one was posted within a couple of days by someone else.

yeah.  i had a new release posted to me last week - and today on the mailing date it was cancelled with no explanation.  argh!  plus 10 copies were posted this week, and one of those could have been mine if this other copy hadn't been posted and then not sent.

I'm number one for a book (one I actually found first and posted in the New Release thread!) and it has been direct posted to some members which doesn't bother me a bit--I do it too and have had it done for me--but it was offered to me FIFO and then cancelled:lol:

I remember when I first joined I ended up mailing off a few books I had because I hadn't changed the option of automatically reposting to your bookshelf after a certain amount of time.  Is that option still hanging about?  Wonder if that is what causes some of the sudden cancellations.

Since I only  mail books 1 time a month book requested from me may stay waiting for me to accept the request  up to 5 days as is what the club allows.  I wouldnt think of cancelling after keeping someone on hold that long though..thats very rude.

Norma,

Thats a lot of assumptions. Sometimes  I just post books on Fifo and log out. Not everyone logs on here everyday.  Just be patient. I mean rightnow I have 2 books to send out that will expire by 11pm tomorrow. I plan on printing them tonight and will make a stop at the post office in the morning. Hopefully the two requestors aren't sitting there pissed that the books haven't been printed or marked mailed. Its not a slight at all.

It may not be intentional slight, but I can see how that is frustrating when it is a book you've waited for and really want.

Not to hijack your thread (but I also didn't want to start another one in the forum and still wanted to vent, so apologies), but I'm reading a book that I got from here. This person must hate the word f*&k (doing that in case the kiddies are lurking). Everytime that word came up, it is blacked out with a pen. There is sex in the book, the person had no problem with that, just the word. Annoying and funny at the same time. :P

I'm in the same situation, a book was posted to my wishlist through FIFO on 22 July and it still hasn't been acknowledged - 5 days later!!! It's only been released in the last month, so the poster must have known they were listing a wishlist book but has done nothing about it since.

This comes after having two other FIFO wishlisted books come up that were posted by new members. One was marked mailed and never showed up at all (could have been lost in the mail but the member never responded to any PM's about it) and the other wasn't mailed until two weeks after it had been marked mailed in the system.

Maybe PBS has just been featured somewhere, there's a load of new members joining and that's behind it but it's beyond frustrating!

Ruth----------I know people are busy and don't necessarilly log in every-day, but when they post a book that is on someone's WL, you would think that they would figure it out!!!  I know that I don't have a life and am on this site everyday and think everyone should be on it also and sometimes I can be impatient------------but come on.

My views aren't those of the world, so you can ignore what I say.  If I offend anyone, I don't mean to.

I'm not offeded in the least but I still feel its not a slight. I don't assume all people on PBS are waiting with bated breath for a book.  When books are posted to fifo i don't think most people are thinking about whoever is on the other end...they are just posting..when they log in again they will see the notification.  its not about having a life or not. thats not the point I'm making. I guess on my end I don't see the 5 days as a punishment or slight.

Or if that stipulation seems too much of a hardship then perhaps if enough people feel this way then PBS can be contacted about reviewing the fifo rules.  Also I guess I look at my WL as just that my wish and that its a gamble/waiting game for gettting anything...its not automatic. And if I didn't feel like I was getting books fast enough I could also just go out and buy them.

I just did that!  I went to our local book store (Waldenbooks) and ended up buying 2 from off the shelf & special ordered another.  I don't know which is more depressing---------------------waiting for a book to be sent or spending alot of $$$$ to buy one.

As with any hobby there is a cost. Reading is someting I just know I have to spend money on as it usually takes me just a day to get through a book. So between my library and pbs that takes away some of the sting. But I usually buy about 4 books per bookstore trip and that adds up after a while. I do have a box of about 120 books (just in the past 9 months of reading) that I will post on pbs in installments as I cannot afford that much postage at one time and yes these are all WL books. Which is why i am refraining from posting.
