"Something sinister began in Lobelia Falls after the Brub-and-Stakers Club hired a curator for their new village museum. Mr Fairfield had an uncanny eye for antiques ... but was blind to the danger that stalked him. Before the museum opened, he had sung his swan song - in a swan dive from a high attic window.

Before amateur sleuth Dittany Monk could sew up the case, she needed some answers. Like who wa the lady in purple last seen on the scene? Who wrote the mysterious letter in French ... and why? How did an empress' secret treasure fit into the picture? And what the the busy bees have to do with an antique quilt ... worth killing for?" (From the back cover)

Charlotte MacLeod wrote the funniest cozy mystery series and I wish she had wrote more of the Grub-and-Stackers series. The setting is Lobelia Falls, a small Canadian town. Dittany Monk is married to Osbert, that renown American western author and they live near his aunt the renowned historical romance author and rather wacky person. Dittany's dog is Ethel who resembles a bear, or maybe Bigfoot on all fours. There are the usual cast of neighbors and bad guys (or gals), all of whom are quirky. Like her other books, this one is light reading and funny.
