I've been number one for a particular book for quite a while now.  It was auto-requested by me in mid-November, but then canceled by the sender a few days later with the excuse that they couldn't find the book.  How you lose a book right after posting to the system is beyond me, but I guess it happens.  No big deal, I went back to number one.  According to my WL, this book is now being listed as last posted this past Wednesday.  I'm guessing it must have been posted directly someone else because I still have it on auto-request.  Would a book show up as posted in the system if it's posted directly to a member's WL and not into the FIFO?  Probably a stupid question, I know, but I thought I'd ask as this is the first time since I've been a member that this has happened. Oh, I've been number one consistently every day for almost 8 weeks, so I kind of doubt it's a case of someone taking their account off vacation hold and lucking into having the book offered the very same day.

Yes it should show if it was posted directly to someone's WL.

Thanks.  I figured that was probably the case.  Oh well, it'll show up for me sooner or later...patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue...LOL!

Sandy,

What book are you looking for?  I always have good luck at my thrift store finding books for friends on here.  I am going on Monday and will gladly try to find it for you

Thanks for the offer, Bertie.  The book is Paul is Undead by Alan Goldsher.  I'm first in line, like I said, but there are another 36 people waiting in line behind me, so if you find it, it will get snapped up quickly. :-)

Yes, various transactions show on the book page.  A member posted one FIFO and the system posted it to me, she later cancelled the transaction b/c her hubby wasn't finished with the book yet.  Can't remember if she had printed the label yet, but the cancelled transaction showed up on the book page.

Unfortunately RL happens and posted books go walk-about.  I usually post books, then place them in a special box in my sewing room until they are requeted.  But once posted a WL book, then wandered around the house reading it while doing errands...and then couldn't find it to finish & mail.  Two months later I found it in the linen closet *sigh*.

I'm missing a DVD that I was supposed to mail yesterday.  I have until tomorrow to mark it mailed. It was WL and I had the DVD in my hand when I posted it.  But it's vanished off the face of the earth at this point.  I've looked everywhere.

LOL Ani, one of the things I love about this house.  The linen closet is behind two regular size doors (sliders) with floor to ceiling shelves.

Also have a bit of a blanket fetish, so there was lots of lovely flufflies to loose the book amongst  crying

Sandy,

I checked at the thrift store and didn't have any luck.  I did talk with the lady that handles the books and she will keep her eyes open for it.
