Read this book last weekend and I really liked it: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, by Mary Ann Schaeffer

Reviews on Amazon were mostly positive, someone said parts were contrived and the ending is predictable, which I suppose is true.

But it is overall a happy book. If you need something to cheer you up, I recommend it highly.

It's on my mountain TBR pile, but I'm moving it toward the top!  Thanks for the rec!

I am on a waitlist for it, and can't wait!  Thanks for the review.

Quaint, cute, interesting historical facts about WWII that'll break your heart.

Also supremely contrived and utterly predicable. So predicable that I didn't bother finishing it.

Not a keeper. I really wanted to like it wholeheartedly.

I loved the audio version--the readers were excellent and really set the tone for the story. This is the first audio I've listened to that had multiple readers and it worked great!

I thought it was ok - basically what everyone has said about it is true.  Your enjoyment of the book will depend on your tolerance on happy, "feel good" novels.  I didn't mind this book, I'll probably keep it, but it was kind of like reading cotton candy - extremely sweet before dissolving into nothing.
