Hello everyone--

A fellow PBS member recommended the following Web site, and I just wanted to highlight it here.

This is a non-profit organization that ships books to American troops overseas. If you register (it's FREE), you can ship your own books to specified addresses overseas or you can make a monetary donation and the organization will ship books for you.

I know that a lot of PBS members are already part of such a group, but I just wanted to make everyone aware of this organization as well. Thanks, Winston, for the great lead!!

Thanks for sharing!  I didn't know about this particular  program, but I will sign up now. ( I'm in a military town, and understand what a good book can mean to the troops  Some of the best books I've read have been recommended to me by service members returning home from overseas.)   What a great way to support the troops!

I've signed up, but they've not sent me a confirmation e-mail yet.  As soon as they do, I'll check and see if I have any of the requested type of books.  Thanks for the info.

I've been sending there for awhile. I particulary enjoy sending them a copy of a good book  my family and i have enjoyed. Such as the James Lee Burke's mysteries,, some of  John Grishams books (a time to Kill) and all of Dennis Lehanes mysteries,  and many more.  I like to think of them passing the time with these books as they take their mind off of their troubles for awhile.  ;D

Of course I send many other books too, . The biggest wants are mysteries and suspense, thrillers, sci- fi and fantasy and history, I believe.

Have fun sending to our toops. PBS really helps me in this endevor.

Have a great day!

I've been a member at operationpaperback for quite a while, and posted mulitple boxes. I get real satisfaction from thinking my books will be providing some some relief/distraction for troops.

Just FYI, you will need to complete a brief customs form for these parcels going to APO's, but, that's just a samll inconvenience. The postage charged is only domestic postage, and a large box of books can be sent cheaply via media mail.
