Manda, another vote for the Jennifer Estep books.  They are very good.  It's one of the series I am caught up on, and always get annoyed each time I read the next installment that there's not another one waiting for me.

Tied for first place for me, though, would be the G.A. Aiken Dragon Kin books.  If you've read any Shelly Laurenston books, you get some sense of these, but I think these are actually better in some ways.  The characters are crazy and yet so very attractive, and the dragons are very dragon--what dragons are supposed to be in my mind.  I really love this series, and am sad that it seems the series may be ending since the book that is coming out this Tuesday (9/4) is the last of the main family's stories.  She's done their father and a cousin, also, so the potential is there to continue, but How to Drive a Dragon Crazy is the baby of the family's story, and I suspect it may be the last.  I really hope she continues to write under this name--dragons or not (but more dragons would be yummy!).

Sheila we know you love your dragons! :)  THnaks for the insight!

Alisa the Gerry Bartlett ones look funny...and since I'm a girl with some meat on my thighs...I think I will enjoy them LOL

It always takes me a while to start a new series but once I do, I read like crazy and them am sad when it's over.  The Mercy Thompson series was like that for me...It's still my fave!

i would also highly recommend Jennifer Estep- ELEMENTAL ASSASSINS and GA Aiken- Dragon Kin.  i can't wait to get my hands on the newest in each series, one recently released and i already preordered the Kindle edition of the next Dragon book since the ebooks are inexpensive.

the other recommendation in my top 3 from that list would be Gail Carriger- Parasol Protectorate.  although really, the first one was awesome and the second not so much, but the third and fourth were good again.

I have read these four and like them

Jennifer Estep- ELEMENTAL ASSISINS Strong charcters very well done

Dakota Cassidy- ACCIDENTAL FRIENDS, light and fun but I can't read many at once. I do enjoy the series.

Gail Carriger- Parasol Protectorate Love this Victorian era paranormal series.

Gerry Bartlett- Gloria St. Claire (Real Vampires) Fun, fast paced series, good romance too

My vote would be Karen Chance (although be warned it's NOT really romance - the plot is pretty complicated and any romance is in the background) and Gail Carriger, and then probably G.A. Aiken, though I read those when I find them than really chasing them down like some series. I haven't read most of the others (although I've got Gerry Bartlett in my sights); and for some reason I could never get into Jennifer Estep, but I know I'm in the minority there.

Thank you Alice and Rebecca...looks like I can't go wrong with the books I have! I *DO* love regency time period so that will be fun to have the paranormal twist on it.

Every now and then I like more plot and action then romance so Karen Chance will be a nice switch up!

Ellen your the first person I've seen admit that the second parasol protectorite wasn't that great.  I had so much trouble getting into it that I almost said screw the whole sereis, and I had Issues with the third but liked the ending.  I've not gotten to the next ones yet though but I at least will eventually.  I think I keep putting them off becuase I want to like the series after the first book but I'm afraid I won't after the last two.

I've read the karen chance ones too and I loved them but a lot of people end up never finishing them.  They don't always get good reviews.  I like her Dory series better than the Cassandra Palmer one but since they are linked you might want to start with the palmer one.

I also liked the first GA Aiken, and the first J.K. Beck one but I've not gotten to others in the series to find out if I like the rest.

My vote is for the Paladins books.  I've read most of them and they are excellent!
