I feel as though I have usurped Cathy's position beginning a new thread --- hope she understands!!!  She may get after me with the famed wet noodle.

Donna --- Of course, I had to have the book as well.

Desert Dreams by Deborah Cox is free today. Don't let either the new or the old cover scare you off. Yes, it's a romance, but it's a gritty one. Not fluffy at all. http://www.amazon.com/Desert-Dreams-Deborah-Cox-ebook/dp/B00H3WP1VQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1390064445&sr=1-1&keywords=desert+dreams+deborah+cox

My Notorious Life: A Novel
by Kate Manning

A brilliant rendering of a scandalous historical figure, Kate Manning’s My Notorious Life is an ambitious, thrilling novel introducing Axie Muldoon, a fiery heroine for the ages. Axie’s story begins on the streets of 1860s New York. The impoverished child of Irish immigrants, she grows up to become one of the wealthiest and most controversial women of her day. In vivid prose, Axie recounts how she is forcibly separated from her mother and siblings, apprenticed to a doctor, and how she and her husband parlay the sale of a few bottles of “Lunar Tablets for Female Complaint” into a thriving midwifery business.

My Notorious Life is really good; I'm 70 pages in already.  Similar at the beginning to Orphan Train but this one is based on the life of a real person.  Get it, y'all!

Some older romances popped up on the freebies today. I haven't thoroughly read the blurbs/reviews, but the Anita Mills is Russian setting, Twin Willows Kentucky territory (I think), No Brighter Dream I think is France, England and Turkey.

Twin Willows: A Novel by Kay Cornelius
