Does anyone have any suggestions for HF on pre-Industrial Russia? I am looking primarily for something about Peter the Great, but anything prior to that time would be welcome also.

I know basically nothing about the time period, and we just started discussing Imperial Russia in one of my history classes today. Peter really caught my interest, and wondered if there was any HF about him. I just mooched Peter the Great by Massie, but that is non- fiction.

Any suggestions?

I haven't read it myself, but this book sounds interesting:

Peter the First by Alexey Tolstoy (not the same Tolstoy as War and Peace). It's available at AZN, but it's kinda pricey. Maybe u can find a used copy.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry to have taken so long to reply, but my DSL modem died Thursday night. But I am back! Off to look at my tagmash!
