An awful title for a splendid book. Sad and funny and in the end, hopeful. You'll be so glad you chose to hear this story and it will stay with you for days. It was wonderful. An eye-opener; a haunting tale.

I felt like I was taking a chance ordering this one, but it turned out to be quite a treat. I really enjoyed having the story told from the point-of-view of a mute, someone "of normal intelligence" who cannot interact in the usual ways. It's very poignant and funny. A glimpse into another way through the world. This is a story with a lot of reality and compassion, but not as intense as I thought it might be. I really enjoyed it.

I liked the premise of the book, and I was hooked at the beginning. Then the swearing got thicker and thicker ... and the vulgarity got stronger ... by the last third of the book it was so bad, and so depressing, that I skimmed through just to see how it ended. I did not find it hopeful or inspiring. I wanted a good finish after a strong beginning, and I felt let down instead.

I enjoyed listening to this book. I thought the narrator did a good job. The story was interesting from the perspective of showing how a mute person with good intelligence communicates with the world around him.
