I'm about a third of the way into Highland Wedding, and there is much talk about Alexander Macdubh. But his title, Reckless says he is no longer happy go-lucky. When I check Howell's site to determine book order, it doesn't even mention Highland Wedding. Does anyone know the order, or what happens to make Alex so bitter? And does Storm and Tavis have their own book?

How does Fantasticficion or fictiondb have it listed?  It's hard with Howell books because they aren't really continual storys so they aren't really a series so much as they have Highland in the title.  Also they have renamed some of her older books to books with Highland in the title. Like Highland Captive was originally released as Elfking's Lady.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but I thought I'd mention those 2 sites.

This is a reprint of a 1988 novel - Promised Passion.

He's first mentioned in Amber Flame/His Bonnie Bride (which is Storm and Tavis' book) and then has his own book Reckless, which is practically the same story. :-\ I don't think we ever do learn what happened to him--I suspect it is just that disease that makes certain authors write the same hero over and over. :-\  I'm guessing that since he's still cheerful (and presumably unmarried) in HW that it's the second book between Amber Flame and Reckless.

http://www.librarything.com/series/Highland+Series

here is a list of the series on library thing.  users can set this up. If you click on the book, it may actually be grouped in multiple series

Reckless is in this series.

I wish I'd seen that before I added the series info at GoodReads - I made up a series name and had to go change everything to "Highland Brides." Sigh.

The books aren't actually a part of the Highland series at all, though, as far as I can tell. That's all Murray family and in-laws.

Yes, that's why I was so confused - between the name changes and such. And actually, I was using Howell's website - and the only connected series she reveals on her website is the "highland" series, which are about the Murrays. She's not the greatest of writers, but I can't seem to stop myself from reading her either. Definitely falls into the "mind candy" category of romance.

I love HH's Murray/McEnroy/McFIngal/Cameron series...finally got them all...can't wait for Highland Protector to come out.

I was confused and then kind of po'ed when I realized that the publishers were just renaming her books with HIGHLAND in the title...

Don't intimate that it is a Highland romance when it is really set in the Lowlands and England.

yeah you have to watch with her books and Janet Evanovich books.  She's another one where they rename the book and update it a little and you think you are getting a new book unless you can read the intro page.  I would never buy one of theirs online without investigating them first.
