Conversation with DD last night: Me: Be sure you're home Wed. night for dinner so we can celebrate the first night of Hanukkah together. I bought lotsa potatoes and am making latkes; we'll light the menorah and open the gifts (aside: which I have not yet bought for you and your brother because I can't get it through my thick skull that Hanukkah comes EVERY SINGLE YEAR at approximately the same time -- give or take 2-3 weeks). DD: Mom -- Hanukkah starts tomorrow night. Me: Really? Are you sure? (aside: oh, sh*t) DD: Yes, Mom, I'm sure. (Teenagers think they know everything.) Me: No -- the first night of Hannukah this year is the 20th. I checked and double-checked. DD: (sighs) Yes, Mom -- tomorrow is the 20th. Me: Oh.
(So, I ask you, Letty, why couldn't you have warned me earlier??!!) |

LOL Deb. I do apologize I'll do better next year! I realize it doesn't officially start until sundown but I hope you enjoy yourselves. Happy Hanukkah! Last Edited on: 12/20/11 9:54 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Deb - change the subject matter to any number of other things, & I have had that identical coversation with Jennfer more than once over the years. Particularly the sighs. Do our Daughters go to some secret school where they learn all their different sighs ??? And I know exactly the tone of indulgent disbelief you got with the "Yes, Mom." I'm also pretty sure it wasn't your first, "Yes, Mom."
