I just got 5 copies of "The Italian's Inexperienced Mistress"  from Harlequin.  The ISBN number is 139780373150946.  Its a standard Harlequin Presents paperback in the way it looks.  I'm a bit leery of posting them as I got them from the Harelquin Ambassador program that wants me to share with others, and on the copyright page it says: "The content of this book may have been edited from their original format" .....

However I do want to share. So if you check out my bookshelf and see something you like, and would like a copy of this book included in the shipment, just pm me and let me know.

Vandana, I got them too and gave them to people at work.

Everybody had a good laugh at that really horrible title, who wants an inexperienced mistress anyway?

Monika

Yes I know the titles are getting really bad!  I just thought I'd let people here know about it.... or else take them in to work and distribute them there.

Well now I"m curious - how do you become part of their Ambassador Program?

Yeah I'm about ready to give up on the ambassador program. It's not worh me getting 5 books of the same title when I don't even want to read one copy of it! I'd think they'd promote their different genres but I guess I was wrong. Personally I'd rather get one copy of a book and pass that around.

Well, I applied, but I'm apparently in a demographic that is fully represented.... pooh!

Well, having read the free book and found it to have been edited of all the sex scenes (see the "what are we reading this week" thread for more details), I would have to agree with the general "it's not worth it" opinion.  This was the first time I got a line, HP, that I actually want to read and they cut it to shreds! It's not that I insist on having sex scenes, it's that the book reads ridiculously with chunks cut out it and no effort made to make it make sense without those chunks.

Willa: thanks for telling me what the difference is. I figured when I saw the "contents may have been edited from original format"  deal that there was something going on but I haven't had time to sit down and go through the book.

This is the first shipment I've got through the HA program.  I'm not too thrilled to get 5 copies of the same book and especially if they aren't the real thing.  I may have to opt out.

I would have thought they would have sent out their diff. genres rather than the same copy of a title..

I'm a part of Tell Harlequin. Is this what you all are talking about when you're refering to the Ambassador program? I still have not gotten anything from Tell Harlequin and it's been about 2 months already.

I received mine last week and added a copy for those who ordered any Harlequin/Silhouette books on myshelf.  I will have to agree with the rest of you that stated that "it's not worth it" to be in the Ambassador Program - especially if they are sending 5 copies of the same title and they're "edited" from original format.

I don't think I know what tell Harlequin is. I joined the HA program at www.HarlequinAmbassadors.com

Did you all see my post with the link to the free ebook?  Is anyone interested in anything like that? Just wondering whether to post the link next time

I'm a member of Tell Harlequin.  (You can Google it.)

Basically, they send periodic surveys for you to take via e-mail... some are fun, like choosing covers for books and telling them why you'd buy this one over that one, etc.  They don't take more than 10 minutes or so to do.

I've also received 5 free books (usually 2 at a time), that I have to read, and then I go online to their forum discussion and do a survey & post my opinions.   I don't believe these books have been edited.

They're not usually the types of books I'd go out & buy, but they're not terrible either, and they're free :)  (and postable, too- I've sent them out for credits or for trade in BoB.)

It usually only takes a few minutes about every few months or so...  (I think I've been a member for about a year.)

Then they must send out different things to different members?

I didn't receive 5 copies of the same edited book to pass around.  I received 2 Silhouette Special Editions (newer ones) to read and review (about a month ago...)

I actually get a lot of free stuff from Harlequin.

Edited post:

(Just went to the Harlequin Ambassador site,  & they "upgraded" me from a "Tell Harlequin" member to a "Harlequin Ambassador"... we'll see in the future if that means anything different!)

Heads up everyone who got sent the books. The Harlequin Survey asking questions about receiving the book and if you read it and what you think of it was sent yesterday. They also asked if you gave the other copies away and if you still have your copy.

Let them REALLY know what you think of their Ambassador Program and sending out badly edited books. If they really want to improve Harlequin, their reputation, use us to forward on books that essentially advertise the quality of their books, they need to understand they have to get MUCH, MUCH better at the books and the program.

I just got here. Have never read much Harlequin. Inherited Sis's massive Silhouette collection. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Some are good, some would be worthy of the outhouse if it weren't for all that wasted ink.

Either way, it sounds like these books they send round to share are much like the preview trailers at the movies: "The following preview has been approved for ALL AUDIENCES by the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc." LOL
