Last month I sent out a book and it was lost in the mail , now 2 WL books that I sent are almost ready to be lost as well, when I went to her account to ask about them, it says her account is closed or suspended.

Will I get my credits back, because I only have one.  Should I just stick to posting books to people on my friends list.  it always happens when I do FIFO.?

I just got a message from PBS saying this persons account in suspended, while they look into something but she told them she had not gotten the books.  I called the post office, and gave them the tracking # on my receipt and was told it was delivered on June 22nd @ 10;35am.

Now what?

About the second case, where the account is closed ... PBS holds the credits for the books while the books are in transit, so I would contact them about this issue. The credits would normally go bauck to her acount when the books go lost in the mail, I'm not sure if in this case they would automatically go to you or not, but the member would not be able to mark them received if the account is closed. So I would ask PBS what happens in this case, as I have never seen it addressed in the help docs. I have no particular problems sending books FIFO.

I don't think I have ever had a book go missing. I did have a request I made once take 6 weeks to arrive but that was a case where the sender had waited a month before sending the book for some reason. I had to go into my transaction archive to find the book in order to mark it received.

When this happened to me, PBS gave me credit for the book. She had it on auto request and her bookshelf was on hold, then it went to closed I think, and PBS gave me my credit.

Yes, if you do not receive your credit, contact PBS. I've had books I've sent go lost, contacted the requester with a note assuring them that the book was mailed when stated, how to mark a book received in your transaction archive and asking them to reply so that I know they are active. When I don't receive a response within 7 days, I have referred the transaction to PBS and they have consistently marked it as received for me.

If her account is "suspended or closed", that may mean that the Admin Team is trying to communicate with her.

I agree that your situation is frustrating; I'd be frustrated, too.

I think it's mean..if she was sick, out of town, but letting something sit..if it really is..knowing something you ordered is there and someone may need the credit, is just unkind. It's the thing of I got what I want and the heck with someone else..so what if I joined something. The heck with anyone but me..if I never want to mark it received I won't. .I got what I wanted. And for all those who say ohh it's weather, weekend, summer, wedding season, kids home, gardening, too hot etc...then put the bookshelf on hold. It's wrong to do this to someone intentionally.

IF what you say is true, that would be mean.

But at this point no one actually knows what is up with the recipient, right?

If we think the best of her and we are wrong, then we are a little bit naive.

If we think the worst of her and we are wrong, then what are we?

Well if the response is..I haven't checked and I'm not going to for a bit without saying hey..I'm sick, carless etc and can't get to it for a bit is entirely different. Assign the member an excuse, but if the sender is out a book and credit, and we just shrug our shoulders while making excuses for a receiver ( who answered pbs and acct is now closed)what does that say about us?

Just like some members here don't have computers at home and go to the library only twice a week to check in with PBS, some members live an inconvenient distance from the place their mailbox is so probably only check it every few days.  But I agree if there is not an 'excuse' accompanying the reply, the member sounds like she just doesn't care even though she knows a book is coming and the sender is awaiting her action of clicking 'received'.

IF what I say is true?   here is the pm that I copied.   I couldn't believe it either....

Dear Lisa,

Thanks for writing back. We asked her about that and she says she hasn't collected her mail from her PO in the last three days. She should do that within the next few days and will get back to us.

This should be tied up soon, but in case it doesn't, please let us know if the books are declared "lost" by the system.

Thanks,

The PaperBackSwap Team

It looks like she has to go to the Post Office to collect her mail. It's understandable that she doesn't go every day.

I live 10 miles away from my post office ... I only go there once a week if I absolutely have to (and I do have to, because I am one of those who can't mail conveniently from home or a blue box), and less if I can help it.

If I had to collect my mail from the post office, it would be, at best, maybe twice a week. But maybe only once, if I was really busy.
