This is an interesting twist on a westen story. A bit of sex in it which was surprising, a bit of swearing as well. (Just wanted to note that for folks who are put off by that stuff) A little metaphysical tossed in as well.
Two gunslingers are saught out to help kill the Hawkline Monster. It takes a while to get to Hawkline, but when they do strange things happen. Its just a quirky odd enough read, its worth the time. A new twist on the old west.
This is a strange little book. Hard to categorize. If it were a painting it would be some sort of modern art with identifiable objects but not quite representational. The writing style suits it with lean, straight-forward prose. Not sorry I read it, but I'm not too sure what I thought of it either.
The time is 1902. The setting, eastern Oregon. The action begins when Magic Child, a fifteen-year-old Indian girl of surprising sophistication and accomplishment, wanders into the wrong whorehouse looking for the right men - the men who will kill the monster that lives in the ice caves under the basement of Miss Hawkline's cold yellow house...
