A delightful romance revealing the below-stairs world of a Yorkshire castle in the early 19th century.

I love this book - but I would never call it a "charming Cinderella story with a touch of Upstairs, Downstairs", because Anne is definitely no Cinderella, although it is the story of a love affair between Charles, the heir to an earldom, and Anne, the nurserymaid for his younger brother and sisters. The cover art is all wrong, too. It's actually a tragic love story. But please, don't let that put you off reading it - it's incredibly moving, and the love between Charles and Anne is so tender! I get tears in my eyes just thinking about their story and believe me, I don't cry over novels or even movies very easily. It's a heartrending romance, but read it!
