I liked this story of magic with alchemists, conjurers, sorcerers and wizards readily accepted by society. There were demons (fallen angels) and angels and epic battles.
Pearl was really interesting as she learned who and what she was, a sorcerer. And Grey was very arrogant as a master conjurer and even childish sometimes due to his upbringing. But they were all so interesting as they hunted for a murderer in London who used corrupt blood magic.
Now I have to look for the first book of the series and hope there is a third regarding the wizard's challenger, Elinor.
