I've listened to the Satellite Sisters and Chaos Chronicles podcasts for years and although I pre-ordered the book, I have to admit that I was not sure whether it was going to be good or not. IT WAS TERRIFIC! It was well-written, funny, and fresh! Bravo, Lian!

Helen Fairchilds life of prestige and privilege is turned upside-down when her husband, Merrit, is killed in a freak accident at the Rose Parade. Of course, her life was about to change because that morning, her husband told her he was leaving her for a local TV news reporter. His death the result of a text message to the mistress during the parade that caused him to lose control and run into a panda float.

So, now Helen and her teenage son, Aiden, must carry on without him. But Helen soon learns that in addition to leaving her husbandless, he has also left her broke. She is going to have to sell her forever house and somehow find a job. A daunting task when your job for the last 15 years has been volunteering at your sons school for fundraisers and field trips.

With the support of her friends and a lack of support from her husbands widowed mother, Helen secures a job as a research assistant for Patrick ONeill, an archeologist specializing in Troy and tries to start her life over.

I thoroughly loved this debut book by Lian Dolan (founder of the Satellite Sisters.) The humor is great and the story is great.

I simply love this book. I picked this up to read and couldn't put it down. I finished it in 2 settings and when I got to the final chapters I just didn't want it to end. If you want a light, funny chick book this is the one for you, perfect for a quick read. I can't want for Ms Dolan's next book.

Being a Pasadena girl myself I was interested in the subject matter. It proved to be an interesting story with funny people and wonderful back drops. I have been to so many of these places and the people are caught perfectly. I loved this book.
