I read the 5 book series back to back in a couple weeks. The series in general is great. What was hard for me was the "poor me" attitude Dante had through-out the whole series. I NEEDED to see her get over that and start working with Japh yet the author kept these 2 apart until the last chapter of the last book. I enjoyed the premise and the players and I did like Dante and Japh but when Dante is always thinking about betraying or killing Japh I wanted to scream "get over it". The only time Dante really wanted Japh was when she was facing death which happens a lot. The interesting thing is EVERY character in the book also thought Dante was immature and distrustful as well.

That being said, I did enjoy the series but was disappointed in this book. If you're like me you have to read this book to finish the series and I would, but the middle does get bogged down.

This book was a big disappointment for me! I love all the others that came before this one, but this one had very little action and that action was hard to follow. But what was the worst was that most of the several hundred pages was thinking and talking! Boring! Dante was always thinking about what to do and not to do how she was feeling about this and that how Japh was feeling or not feeling etc etc. I stuck it out for over 200 pages then gave up and read the last chapter! It was hard to read too and all the demon politics was hard for me to follow! I didn't know what was going on most of the time or why it was going on!!! Maybe it is just me, but I really didn't like this book. However, it will not stop me from reading the next book in the series. But if that book is anything like this one, I will not be reading any more of Dante Valentine!
Just my two cents.

This book is the conclusion to the Dante Valentine series. While it was hard to follow at times, the feelings evoked by the struggle between sanity and insanity with the main character reflected the mess that a mind that has been through Hell (literally) might go through. I felt that the author used the fragile mindset of Dante to tell the story in a way that not only drags the reader in, but also gives us the insight needed to really understand why Dante does what she does.

This series was one that I didn't think I was going to like, but I was pleasantly surprised. Saintcrow has earned her spot on my "collect" shelf with this series, and I look forward to reading more of her writings.

I loved this book. I can't believe the story is over. I hope she comes back with something more in the future.
