I can't remember Title or Author for this one.  A P.I. is hired by powerful political guy to find his run-a-way personal assistant.  She has a video of a meeting that was NOT supposed to be videotaped showing corruption.  She is on the run and he alters her record to make her look like she embezzled money and has a criminal record.  The P.I. finds her in hotel and doesn't believe her story and handcuffs her to the bed.... when he lets her use the bathroom, she get her hairspray and sprays him the face and escapes to the hall.  He catches up with her and to keep the person walking down the hall from believing her story, he kisses her and acts like this is a lovers spat.  As the story progresses he begins to believe her and then they are both on the run from the political guys henchmen.  I would like to reread but can't figure out the author or title.  Help!!

ETA:  I remember more details, but don't want to spoil it for someone who might want to read it... after we find the title/author that is :  )

Was it one of the category books (Harlequin or Silhouette) or a longer length novel?  Thick book?  Thin book?

I think it was a medium to thick book... I don't think it was a series book, but I could be wrong.  The video was hidden in her apartment behind her washing machine or something like that.

I just got "It Must Be Love" by Rachel Gibson today in a bob.  An undercover cop gets taken down by the heroine with hairspray.  I don't know if that's it or not.  I haven't read it yet.  Joe Shanahan, Gabrielle Breedlove are the hero and heroine.

Jayne Ann Krentz has a couple of books similar but don't think they're the same story.the one I thougth ti was is a shorter book but nthing is behind the dryer...in a larger book of hers a woman was blackmailing someone and had a tape behind the washng machine seems like but she was one ofthe 'so so 'ones and nto the main character...sounds like a good book!

Thanks for the help thus far.  That Rachel Gibson book sounds like a fun read.  I have looked over the Jane Krentz list.. I have read quite a few by her, but I think this one is a little shorter and less complicated than her usual fare (i.e not a lot of past history or true gut wrenching of any sort).  The P.I./Hero does have a committment phobia though.  I want to say how it ended but don't want to spoil it for anyone who might be wanting to read it... after we find the book , ha!

Before she saw the tape of her boss, she had NO idea he was into anything shady, but he gets nasty fast.  That is why she is on the run... he has framed her for enbezzlement or theft or something and now the cops are after her as well as the P.I. he hired as well as other shady characters he has hired to kill both the lady AND the P.I.

ETA: I think 'Raven's Prey' is the one I'm thinking about....
