I have some books on my bookshelf I cannot delete, no matter what I seem to do.  They are in two sections: some are on 'hold" with a green check and a red slash mark through  them.   The second type is a book I posted without an ISBN.  It shows on my public bookshelf, but I cannot get it come up when *I* look at my bookshelf.

I didn't even put the books that are on hold on there, I don't know how that happened.

Anyway, I select them and hit delete, and nothing happens.

Thanks!

It sounds like a glitch that you need to contact PBS about.

Have you tried logging out and logging back in?  That might help.  If the books are still there when you log back in, contact TPTB as something is probably wrong.

Good luck!

First, be sure to sort by date or title, not author.   Books without an author "disappear" in the author sort.

The ones on hold are probably books you received.  The system asks you if you want to put these on hold on your bookshelf as part of the book check in process.

Next, after selecting and hitting delete, you have to double check the pop up window.  If a book is on hold, such as a Wish listed book, then you cannot delete it.  It will have a little grey circle with an !.

If you have cookies blocked, the second pop up window to confirm might be blocked.

You guys are awesome!  You were right about me sorting by author.  I changed it and deleted that book. Done!

Then, I disabled the pop up blocker.  That enabled me to delete my mysterious hold books.  Done!

Thank you!

You might want to add PBS as an exception to the pop up blocker, rather than turning it completely off.

Keeping books you received on your bookshelf on hold has the side effect that the estimates, the last posted date, and the book history (AKA footprint or passport) are based on the hold books.  Removing those hold books will remove the estimates for other folks.  This is due to the timing of when software was updated.  This was an added on feature rather than new programing.  (It also makes it very easy to post those books when you are done.)

I really should figure out how to post books from my bookshelf (transactions).  I usually just enter the ISBN when I'm ready to post, but the information is already available in my account just waiting to be used.  I didn't realize it is connected to the 'estimate' feature too.

It's really easy.  I go to my bookshelf through my main account pull down, select books on hold, make an X in the square, then push the Post button.  Then you do need to confirm in the pop up window.  This makes sure the book keeps it's history.  I do not have to type in the whole ISBN.

This will also let you know if the book is Wish Listed or not.  But there seems to be some delay in that data.  It is not always accurate.
