Don't you keep the piece of the printout that says "for the sender"? That has the name and address as well as the book requested.

If it is still in your active transactions tab, ou can view the address by clicking the "print wrapper" button.

One way I do it is to go to my Transaction Archive and see when I printed the label.  I then go to my Download file folder and search for that date.  The labels are a PDF with a long string of numbers for a name.

You might be able to get the details from the Transaction Archive.

You can find the Transaction Archive on both your pull down My Account menu and on your My Account main page.

You have to be VERY CAREFUL in the Transaction Archive. That has both cancelled orders (folks who never responded) and active orders. Always double and triple check the sender before marking a book in your Transaction Archive.  As this takes a credit from you and cannot be undone.

If you can't find it in your computer's Download file like Emily is talking about (this is a computer file not a PBS folder), you will need to contact the receiver. Sender's do not have access to the receiver's address on the site after the book has gone lost.

I don't understand the problem. I went to the page labelrd MY ACCOUNT, which is my default page, and clicked on  BOOKS I'VE MAILED and to the right of each book is the requestor's name and address.

What am I missing here?

Yes.  It will depend on how your computer files are set up, if it clears the folder or not.

This book has been declared "lost".  Which means the details have been moved from the My Account page to the Transaction Archive.

Bertie, have you contacted the requestor? She must want to know where her 14 books are as much as you do and would gladly give you her address to help you find out. Good luck!

I would go to my computer download file, sort by date, and look for a PDF that was slightly before Wrapper Printing(s):  3/28/2012 6:51 AM ET

I might need to open several labels to find the correct one.   On my Mac it would be on the Finder page.

Connie,

I did send her a pm waiting to hear from her.  When she first told me they went missing I ask her to check with her post office. she told me she works 8 am-6 pm  7days a week. Said she would try to get there and let me know.

Emily,

I delete the downloads as soon as the label prints, so that will not help me.  I will just wait and see if she answers my pm.  If not I will just forget about the books.  I did use dc so I did get my credits. I would just like to know where the dang books are LOL

Bummer.  I know we can ask PBS for the info.  But I thought we needed the transaction number.  Which is on the label.

That is correct. Once a Transaction is complete (rececived or cancelled or marked lost) you will not be able to access their address in any way on PBS. The site does not want a sender maintaining the addresses of everyone they sent a book to. Once the transaction is over there is no need for the sender to have the address.  The only way to get it will be to PM them. I don't know if PBS would even give it to you. You can try Feedback, but I don't know if they'd say to contact the receiver out of privacy concerns.

When I "delete" something on my Mac, it isn't gone from my computer - just in the trashcan, where I can retrieve it if necessary. Is that not the case for you, Bertie?

Obviously the thirty minutes are long past, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

For future reference... I usually try to hold on to the recept from the post office when I mail a book until it is marked received.  I think this receipt would have enough information on it for the post office to track something down?  I don't always use DC, so I hold on to the receipt for proof that I mailed the book...just in case a swapper would question whether their order was ever sent.

Media Mail isn't trackable unless you have purchased an additional service (like DC).  I too keep my PO receipts til the books are marked rec'd (without a problem).

Why, on the PBS details, does it say "cancelled" instead of "lost"?? is that a change?  Cause the details used to always say lost if book not rec'd in the window of opportunity.

This is what it has always said. The system cancels the transaction when the book goes lost. The Team can tell  it was a system generated cancellation.
