Help! I'm looking for a book that I had when I was a little younger. It was a chapter book, and I remember most of the plot: A father is taking his two daughters to visit their grandmother to get a dollhouse from her, but a storm rages, a bridge they drove across breaks, and they have to stop at this weird-looking huge house. The house turns out to be a museum (I think a shoe museum, to be exact!) and a guy in a rabbit suit is the one that answers the door. They have a meal together, and the rabbit is dressed up as a pirate with a talking parrot on his shoulder who can only say "The pen of my aunt is on the table" --In French. Then, the girls go off exploring and they find all sorts of crazy rooms--one where the furniture is all on the ceiling --an upside down room, if you will, and also a room with a long slide...while the girl is going down the slide, she hears the rabbit saying nursery rhymes, except he is saying them wrong. I think the slide leads to the basement, where they were looking for the owner of the museum to tell him that a pair of the egyptian sandals got stolen. They find him in a bathtub, experimenting with spells to make artifical rainstorms and rainbows. When they tell him the shoes are stolen, he brings out a robotic sniffing spider, who leads them to the shoes. And, that's pretty much it. The cover had a red border around it, if I rembmer correctly...I can't find this book anywhere! Please help! |

I have no idea what the title is but the story sounds like a fun one. I hope someone has the answer for us. :) |
