I cannot find the title or author of this book.

It's about a Scottish Lord who I think goes to a English house party. At the house party is a spoiled bratty girl whom he's engaged to or is about to propose to sight unseen. it may be have been arranged by her parents. Anyways, she's caught complaining about him being a heathen Scot and ridiculing him and he's of course right behind her while she's mouthing off.

He's angry and doesn't propose or breaks off the engagement with the she-devil. He meets a quiet but nice neighbor who i think isn't in his class or maybe she's a spinster. He gets to know her and the friendship blooms into love or course and they get a nice HEA.

It's a historical romance maybe, regency. I think it was written in the 90s by a somewhat popular author.

Thanks!

I'm hoping people will add their own "help me find this title" to this thread and we can all pick each other's brains! smiley

Sounds like The Heir by Johanna Lindsay.  If it is there is a second book called The Devil Who Tamed Her.  Both really good books.

I knew I had read that book after reading the description, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the title, lol!
