I want to find this book for my sister:)

What she remembers: A young woman inherits an inn which houses an entrance to Hell in the basement (sis thinks it was actually in the furnace in the basement). She also remembers there being a ghost named Jacques who was always hitting on the main character.

She read this between 3-5 grade so 1992-1995; she's pretty sure it was a newly published book then.

Any and all help is appreciated; she's been trying to find this for years! Thank you:)
