I am looking for a female fantasy author.  She had a 3-book series on apes as they began to evolve into humans.  She tells about why they go from traveling on all fours to walking on their hind legs, why they began to lose hair in some places on their bodies, and things like this.  It was fascinating and read like half-fantasy and half-history book.  There is NO DIALOGUE at all in these books, as far as I can remember.  It is definitely NOT Jean Auel, I am certain of that.

Anyone that can help, I would greatly appreciate it.  I've been trying to remember who this is for a few months now and even bookstore employees can't get past suggesting it's Jean Auel.

Have you tried asking this on abebooks.com?  They have a booksleuth forum (click on community -it's in there) and the people there are pretty amazing.  They may be able to help you.

Not sure about the author, but if you find out who it is, let us know! I would love to read these books of which you speak.

You can always try http://www.logan.com/loganberry/stump.html Loganberry stump the book seller.  I have found several books by just searching on there. I get requests like this all the time and have to work it out..LOL

Are you absolutely certain that it was a female author? Stephen Baxter wrote several novels about evolution and mankind's origin.

Are you sure it is a woman author?  Have you read "Isle of Woman" by Piers Anthony?  There is also his sequel "Shame of Man".      Liri

No luck yet, but thanks to everyone for trying.  I'm certain it's a female author, and I vaguely recall her last name being somewhere in the beginning of the alphabet, but I'm certain it's not Jean Auel.

I'll keep looking and will post the answer/author here when I find out.
