Back in the 80's, I found a really neat little paperback in the bargain bin.  For the life of me, I can't remember the title.  The story takes place on earth in the far future.  The story was written from the point of view of a police detective who is assigned to find an escaped prisoner.  The prisoner had been held on the moon and is a woman who had unleashed an nuclear weapon and killed thousands of people.   He tracks her by locating her younger sister, who is a musician (she played something called the Cubes).  He falls in love with the musician and the two of them find the older sister and discover why she used the weapon.  The three of them go on the lam from the law so they can discover the reason she commited such a horrible crime.  It turns out the reason she loosed the weapon was because she was in psychic contact with a alien-being,on a far-away planet, made of crystals, and that the alien-being needed a huge thermal situation in order to continue to evolve and grow.  The two sisters might have been twins(I don't remember) but they were very special and had a mental link to each other.

I thought the title was Queen of Hearts or something like it.  I gave the book away after I read it and just can't remember the author or the correct title.  I thought it was a pretty interesting story and would like to read it again.

It's a long shot, but maybe someone here has also read this book and can help me.

Oh.  I remember it.  It was a stand alone book by someone who wrote alot back then.  And had a very 80's punk haircut on the cover.   The sister went by the band name Jack of Hearts or Queen of Hearts.

Fool's Run by Patricia McKillip.

I'm sorry that I don't have a copy to scan the cover art for you.  The cover is so 80's with a gold mask and spiked hair.
