Looking for author of short story.  Young man manages to get a trip to the moon.  An old American Indian(and self-appointed guardina of the young man) manages to stow away on the ship and almost dies.  He is definitely not technically prepared for space or the 21st century.  Upon arriving on the moon, he sees "devil tracks" which finally lead to dead aliens.  Two races that apparently warred until they eliminated each other.  On one of his scouting trips, he disappears, and they assume he fell prey to the hazzards of wandering about the moon alone and with no technical skills.   Some time later, young man is along on the first Mars expedtion and disaster strikes.  While waiting to die, the young man dreams he is seeing the old Indian.   Any one got an idea?
