Sure. What format are the books in? Do you have wifi on your Kindle? The easiest way is to email it from your computer to your Kindle. You can also attach the Kindle to your computer via the USB cord and drag and drop the files.

To find the address you need to use go to your Manage Your Kindle page on Amazon and you will see your kindle email address. Oh they made a change. So go to Manage Your Devices (after you go to Manage Your Kindle, you will see a side bar on the left with the Manage Your Devices link). Your Kindle's email address is listed there.

Amazon can convert a number of file formats automatically when you email them directly. However you can not load any epub or lit files to your Kindle, those must be converted first.

If the document is in pdf format, I suggest you put the word CONVERT in the subject of your email. Much easier to read the result.

I will be watching for your reply in case you need to know more.

Are the books in Kindle format? (either .mobi or .azw?)

When I want to put books that aren't from Amazon on the Kindle, I use the free program Calibre. You can find it Here.

When running it, I plug in the Kindle to the computer and it will appear as a 'device' at the top of Calibre. Then I drag and drop my books into Calibre. I can 'select' them then right click. I'll get the choice to "Add to Main Memory".

If theyr'e in the correct format for the kindle it will then load them. I then 'eject' the Kindle, (a selection offered when you click on the Device icon for the kindle) and after that it's safe to unplug the kindle from your computer.

I think you may be able to email a book to it, but that I haven't done yet. Hopefully someone with have istructions for that.

But it'll be important that it be the correct format for the Kindle, or with no security on it so that Calibre can made it the right format for your machine.

I am so lost, I have tried for the last 2 hours and have had no luck. I can not get it to down load. I have tried using the mobi converter. I am not sure that perhaps the file is corrupt some how as I even when to my friend who has a Mac and we tried it and no luck. What is so sad is that one of the books had been on my PBS wish list forever and  I can get if for free on my kindle.

Thank you for your help.

It does not tell me what format they are in, perhaps that is the problem.

Try double clicking the file to open it on your computer.  Or just go into your documents folder and click on the file (not double click) the details box on the lower left of your documents window will usually tell you what kind of file it is.

What it says in the details box depends on what programs you have on your computer, for example, my epubs say Digital Publication (OCF) and my mobi, prc, azw files say Kindle Content, my PDFs say Adobe Acrobat content. If you can tell us what is in the details box, we can go from there.
