I have a cookbook that has 12 wishers.  I posted it and the first wisher has it on auto-request. Because it is a cookbook and has a few stains, per the PBS guidelines I PM'd the requestor asking if she would accept it.  I suggested if she didn't want it I would cancel, she could add an RC stating "No stain on cookbooks", I would repost and decline her RC, therefore offering it to other wishers without her losing her place in FIFO.

She has not read or responded to my PM's.  I had to cancel and repost once, due to it being the last day and of course, it went back to her because she has it on auto-request. She has still not responded to my PM's.

How do I get out of this loop and offer it to the other 11 wishers?

Leslie

How long has this been going on?  You might want to let PBS know...but it's the problem of the 5day+ rule for you as a sender.  She's accepted and hasn't PM-'d you - let PBS know what's going on and ask for help.  This is one reason we say not to PM people about minor things when the guidelines are met by the condition.  I know that in this case you had to but if it's been 5 days...cancel.  In the next one besure to put a limit on time to reply - like 3 days.  But only PBS can get you out of this one.

Tthere is no 5 day time to hear from the member who ordered......it's an  automatic request ! So don't cancel and don't send a PM about minor food stains, which are acceptable because they are cookbooks. Just wrap it up and send it. Use printed postage and delivery confirmation, drop it in the mailbox and click sent......get your credit! No problem!

Good Luck!

The problem is that she can't just send it.  According to PBS rules (copied below), she has to send a PM -- and that is why she's in this loop. Hopefully, she'll be able to contact TPTB to extricate her if the requester doesn't respond.  Good luck!

  • No staining

    • Exception: Cookbooks may have some mild staining, since these are used in the kitchen and while cooking, and some minor degree of staining could be expected in a used cookbook.  Also a small amount of writing in cookbooks could be expected
    • HOWEVER, if you post a cookbook and it is stained and/or written-in, the condition must be described to the requestor in a Personal Message
  • AND the described condition MUST BE AGREED TO in a reply PM before the book is sent
  • This is the one of the ONLY three cases in which a PM exchange about a book is required before the book can be sent (the others are for travel guidebooks and textbooks/workbooks--see above).

As per the guidelines, they are only acceptable if mutually agreed upon.   She should not send the book until she hears back - I agree that pming TPTB in this case seems like the best thing to do.

Thanks for the feedback caviglia, Deb, Toni and Ruth.  I have PM'd TPTB to see what can be done.

Are you choosing the 5 day mailing option?  Have you checked to see if her account is on hold? She might be on vacation and not getting your PMS.  You can tell by hitting the PM button and then seeing if it'll take you to their bookshelf. Of course this will only work if they've set up a profile.

I've chosen the longest mailing option possible. I now have until 11/29/09 to ship but I just don't think she is monitoring her account because she hasn't read any of my PM's.

She last posted a book on 11/11/09. I can wait until Sunday to cancel again but this is getting really old. I've PM'd the PBS team and await their reply as to what I should do.

ETA: Her account is NOT on hold.
