I hate reading book in a series out of order, and now that I've gotten about 1/4 of the way through Garden in the Rain, I'm getting really annoyed, because it is apparent that I am missing stuff that was likely covered in previous book(s).  So, I went on her website and got a reading order list for the McLeods, and it is surprisingly extensive- 11 books!  I then looked them up on Amazon, and come to find out, several are anthologies.  Is it necessary to read these in order to keep up in this series?  I have ordered A Dance Through Time and it's on the way- that one seems to be Jamie's story, so I will have to cease reading A Garden in the Rain and read that one when it arrives.  But I'm confused about what should come after that, if not the anthologies.  Should I then pick A Garden in the Rain back up, or is there something I need to read before that?  The other non-anthology books listed before AGITR are The Very Thought of You and My Heart Stood Still, but these do not seem to involve McLeod's directly- something about McKinnons?  Any help clearing up my confusion would be greatly appreciated.  I was enjoying AGITR until I got to this point and realized I'm just missing too much and need to read the previous book(s), just need to figure out which ones besides the first one that (or those) are.  Thanks!

Yes, that is where I got the reading order list of 11 books, several of which are anthologies that seem only loosely related to the McLeods.  What I want to know is whether the stories in the anthologies are really necessary.  A Dance Through Time is the first book listed, which is Jamie's story.  A Garden in the Rain is 8th on the list, so do I *really* need to read all 7 listed before this, including the anthologies, or will just the first book suffice for understanding what's going on?
